About
Oceana Elia-Hintsa
Instructional Designer | Inclusive Technology Advocate | UDL Practitioner
I’m an instructional designer who creates inclusive, technology-driven learning experiences that make complex systems easier to understand.
My work is shaped by both my professional background and my personal experiences. With over a decade of experience at the University of Massachusetts Boston, I’ve spent my career helping students and staff navigate systems that can often feel overwhelming. That work naturally led me to instructional design, where I focus on turning complexity into clarity.
At the same time, my perspective as a designer is deeply personal.
Growing up with a learning disability, I experienced firsthand what it feels like when learning isn’t designed with you in mind. That experience continues to guide my work today. I design with accessibility at the forefront, not as an add-on, but as a foundation because inclusive design improves learning for everyone.
I’m especially interested in designing training resources, eLearning experiences, and tools that support real-world learning, helping people feel more confident using technology and navigating systems.
I also bring a collaborative and human-centered approach to my work, influenced by my background in conflict resolution and my experience working across diverse learning environments.
Outside of my professional work, I’m a parent to two amazing children who inspire my curiosity and creativity every day. I love being active, rock climbing, yoga, kickboxing, hiking, and dancing, and I also enjoy quieter moments spent reading, writing, or watching a good K-drama. Traveling and exploring new places continues to shape how I see the world and the people I design for.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple goal:
To make learning and technology more accessible, more human, and more empowering.
“I believe the best ideas come from curiosity, collaboration, and generosity—and I strive to bring those values into every learning experience I design.”
